Roller coaster week!

Hmm where shall I start? Okay, lets wind back time and start on last sunday. Had a great day at the shelter, despite feeling abit guity when leaving..*refer to previous post*

Had a great bball session with the peeps. Got quite pissed off with P cause he didnt play nice. Well, two can play a game =P

I've come to realise that I need to up my game by being more consistent when finishing on the lay-up or via shooting. Usually I can get past the defender, but end up not scoring the basket. That's something I've got to work on..

Anywayy, I only felt the discomfort on my knee towards the end of the games...didn't think much about it cause it just felt like a stretched joint discomfort thingy, until Monday morning when I woke up and got off the bed.

The sharp and intense pain that hit me, felt as if my knee got hit by a truck or something. Instantly jolted me from my sleepy mode...

So I skipped school cause i couldn't walk properly, and decided to study at home to make up for it... quite productive, considering I cleared 1 big chapter on Terms for Commercial law..
.
.
.
Tuesday came and I got a pleasant surprise! RMIT groupmate messaged us and told us that Macroecons results were out, and I got super kan-chiong...

Didn't expect to do well cause I didn't really understand the concepts back then (not much better now lah, but still... =X )

However I scraped a distinctions for the paper! Really got lucky there, and I told myself I cannot rely on luck all the time, better study even harder!
.
.
.

Wednesday came and went with a project discussion in school, followed by a study session with Monkey at NLB.. Not really productive this time cause I was quite distracted with my phone and facebook... (no thanks to monkey >.>)

Today I missed school. Supposed to wake up at 7, and I clearly remember setting my alarm the previous night. Somehow the alarm got cancelled halfway through my sleep, and I only woke up at 8. Could have rushed to school, but decided not to in the end...

Shall study awhile later to make up for it...! >.<

and Tomorrow's Good Friday! Can't wait to visit the furkids at GPF, especially Daryl and Dagger! My two personal favourites! (Despite me trying hard not to have any) xD

Wanna get there early tomorrow to greet them as the first few people to do so :D

Wa, I just realised this post is all over the place... w/e, I guess thats what Im feeling right now too haha..

Ahh, gotta stop procrastinating and shall go study!

A dog's love is the most unconditional.

Sometimes I feel bad for people who have no love for dogs. They'll never understand how it feels like to be enthusiastically greeted every single time.

Even if one punishes the dog 20 seconds ago for misbehaving.

2 weeks ago, there was a new dog named dagger that was to be integrated with the rest of the dogs in cage 1. At 9months old and barely passed the puppyhood phase, he got a shock when the rest of the dogs dominated and bullied him from the moment he came in.

But the magic began from then on. I must have been the only human in that cage to "comfort" him in that unfamiliar place with all those "aggressive" dogs, or that I resemble his previous owner, because he's sticking to me now like glue.

There's no better feeling when a dog rushes to greet, lick your face all over, and grinning away while doing that. Pure happiness I tell you!

When I left the shelter yesterday, poor dagger was lying down with a mournful expression. Wah, I felt so guilty I had to leave and couldn't adopt him. Not even Daryl(my personal favourite!) made me feel this way lol..

Oh well, I'll be back this coming week dagger!

Sigh.

The wise hold their words.

Sometimes being right is not as important as playing nice. Sure, I could probably argue all the way coherently and logically, but sometimes in the heat of the moment, gotta let the other party win. Then everyone will be happy like that mah.

Just the other day I was Bballing with my clique.. Didn't play well I admit, made afew bad passes. W was overly agitated and made afew nasty comments. Sort of lowered my morale and overall efficiency.

On hindsight, this made me realise that scolding a team mate when on the losing end will rarely work out. Just frustrates everyone even more. Lesson learnt, glad I'm not the one dishing it out.. :S
.
.
.
.
Today marks a hopeful day for me. I'm hoping to be able to participate in GPF's furry day! Have volunteered for about 5months so far but haven't gone for it yet... Fingers crossed..!

Wanted to blog more bout other stuff but I guess it can wait. Sleep can't, due to the early lesson tmr :(

Oh well, tata then!

Happy weekend, stressful-to-be weekdays

Everyone complains about how the weekends are too short and the weekdays too long, and I'm no exception lol. Thing is, I'm starting to stretch myself out in all aspects. Physically, mentally and even spiritually I might say.

I do realise I'm alot more independent than I used to be, and I need to upkeep myself...

And I don't even know where to start repairing broken bridges. I may seem to grin and laugh all the way with friends and stuff, but truth is, I forced myself to be optimistic and cheerful. My environment growing up was tough and I had to rely on myself to stay positive most of the time. Definitely not the pick of the lot.

I guess this is something I rarely share with friends. What's the point in being all gloomy and glum anyway...

I've decided to work even harder this semester and from march onwards I'll make sure I stay on top of my game, both at school and in whatever I'm committing myself to. Gambatte wk!

Injury!

Played my 1st two consecutive bball sessions in a day ever since I sprained my leg a couple of weeks ago. Definitely overstrained myself, but I'm glowing with self pride that my shooting percentage went up significantly. ^^

It didn't just miraculously get better. I went to my bball court in the early afternoon and probably shot hundreds of free throws + three pointers.

That's probably why my legs were cramping by the end of the second session. Lol. :S

W and p had some squabbling halfway through the games. W's a nice guy, but sometimes he's very excessively biased. :/

And I'm now slightly limping to monkey's house after ~5hrs of sleep and 3 hours of lecture. Looking forward to some lunch after resting for awhile at his place! Shag ahhhh~~!

Study study!!

Year of the "black water" snake!

It has not been a really smooth year for me so far... 3 injuries of pure random-ity, earnings not catching up with expenses, not studying as much as I would like to, etc etc

Of course, most of the shortcomings is due to my own lack of willpower and determination to do whatever is necessary, but sometimes when one is down, its easy to blame lady luck and superstition...

Anywayyy, away with the negative stuff and in comes the happiness!

Its Chinese New Year period again! Time to enjoy spending quality time with family and friends!

Tomorrow's "chu xi", the eve of CNY..! Probably will be eating out at a Chinese restaurant with my relatives on my mum's side.

Then Sunday (chu yi) will come and we'll go visiting relatives, followed by dinner at my uncle's place.

Sometimes tradition brings comfort and familiarity :)

Half of Monday will probably be spent visiting as well, and the other half of it preparing for another reunion dinner with my dad's side this time, at my place.

This year might be a lil' more distant on my end, but I'll make sure to enjoy it nevertheless =]

And of course, the Ang Baos $_$ that come with the festive occasion! =D

.
.
.
.
.
.

And I'm really glad that GPF is open from Sat to Tues! I'm prolly gonna go on Sat and Tues to visit the fur-kids there and bring them a piece of happiness(chicken HAHA) in this time of uncertainty =]

Sometimes I wish I can be a lil' more forgiving and her a lil' more sensitive.
Happy Chinese New Year to everyone! =DD

Recollections~

Was drifting off to sleep when suddenly memories of the bad times two and a half years ago hit me.

Super random, but I guess I never really got over it.. Indignance should be the emotion I felt then.

What's the point of hanging around in OT everyday when one has already finished one's work. Gahhh~

Sometimes a change of environment is so very crucial to bring about one's best. I'm really glad I was given that chance; being able to influence and participate in helping others to obtain have this chance as well. IMO, this is what really differentiates others from myself in my line of work then.

Meeting army friends always result in myself feeling so reminiscent. Sigh lol~

Oh well, i should snap back to the present for now and start focusing on my damned studies >.>!

Army days(daze)

Caught "Ah boys to men 2" late last night with my bball friends. The movie did indeed capture the essence of army experience in BMT, the common issues of BGF maintenance and camaraderie of the recruits in the army. The smokers gang and what's not etc..

While watching the movie, flashbacks of my personal experience played like a movie in my head. I remember volunteering to be IC during field camp, a situation nobody wanted to be in. Being IC just before the tekan session was especially tough for me, not so much due to the physical requirements, more because i didn't understand why we were getting punished over the most insignificant and trivial matters.

The discomfort from not being able to shower and getting pumped in the heat, holding myself in the push-up position while my platoon mates came over to fall in and my platoon sergeant shouting in my ears was the traditional way to get tekan-ed, and to be honest, it did affect me physically and mentally. I was literally in the push-up position in SBO for 10mins while my platoon was being lectured...

Then the handing out the family's letter to us came with the explanation of why they did this "drill". It was pretty emotional. The movie did depict that scene really well...

My friend asked me if I cried. I said no, but I clearly remember that I teared silently when I saw my granny's handwriting.
PS: she very rarely wrote/spoke in mandarin, due to her command of the language...

And there was the time at coy line when I acted "hero". Someone shouted vulgarities at the sergeants from their bunks and the sergeants heard it. Of course, we all were made to fall in immediately to 'fess up. No one dared to own up for it, and everyone would definitely get punished together if the culprit didn't own up. To be honest, when I "owned up" for what I didn't do, I wasn't trying to be hero or whatever. I had an inkling that I would not be punished as severely as my bunk mate as he had already "been marked", and also because of the fact that I was performing quite well so far and the commanders had a good impression of me. No point everyone suffer if I could take the "minimum damage".

In the end the commanders found out it wasn't me who did it, and didn't punish the culprit as well. I got a chiding from my sect comd lol~ I guess we (the entire platoon) got lucky hah..

But guess what, I'd do the same thing again if I'm faced with the same situation.
.
.
.
.

Sometimes I think I'm too selfless. On the other hand I think that's how I really matured in the army. My unit experience also gave me a different perspective of the army, but I'd have to say that the BMT experience was the most enriching part of my NS time.

I don't like to talk much about my bmt "achievements" (2nd pick for platoon best) cause I don't want people to think that I'm being a hypocrite, acting gung-ho and all despite being a pes C (chao keng) soldier...I'm just playing my part as a fellow BMT soldier IMO..

I've to admit that the 2 years spent in the army has been reformative, despite my numerous ramblings about it then haha~

PS: my bun-koping buddy will not be likely to see this post, but I'd like to let him know that that rendezvous was definitely the most exciting and hilarious moment I had in my army days... ^^

The good old times... :')

Sometimes being right is not that important.

Was playing bball earlier on and I called for a foul made onto myself, by W. I was really surprised he insisted there was no contact. I'm 95% sure I felt someone smack my right wrist area, but I didn't rebut his claim.

Sometimes one has to be reminded that being right is not as fulfilling as maintaining great friendships.

So I kept quiet and let it go.

I don't think he's weasel-ing his way out of a foul, but neither do I think I'm mistaken.. But does it really matter..?

But I love such life lessons, it keeps me grounded and allows me to learn to be a better person =]

Anyway, I just came back from a short trip in malacca. Weekend well spent, with great company and exuberant atmosphere! ^^

Bought a bag, t shirt and shades. I read somewhere that being relevant(fashion-wise, in this context) is key in getting a good first impression. I'm not a fan of being superficial, but I guess following the flow of such trends would be a wise move =]
(The stuff I bought are considered as cheap deals if converted into SG dollars anyway 😁)

There was a huge discussion and much were revealed. I just hope the parties involved are ready for the worst scenario.
And I'm glad Y didn't have to break a promise made. Promises are super vital in proving that one can be a reliable source of comfort and secrets-keeper. I learnt this the hard way :/

Moving on, aloy is gonna ORD soon liao! Time really flies, I can still vividly remember the day when he came into our office lol~ Justin + kw + myself psycho-ing him about the fact that his upper study is actually a monstrous octopus in disguise. Fun times HAHA! I guess the frequency of office visits will soon decrease, and such is life :S

Feeling so nostalgic now. Sigh. Sometimes I wish I could travel back in time and change some of my decisions made. But obviously I can't, and I'm slightly regretful.. :/

CNY is coming and I splurged almost $300 on new year clothes. I need to work ah~

Pretty much stopped relying on my folks for cash nowadays. In fact, pretty much stopped relying on them for anything. Relationships are not as close as in the past, but I don't think it would ever be the same again. Sometimes I think I'm being a little petty, but when I think of the bad times I had without support when I most needed it, the guilt disappears into thin air. Mostly.

L's issues have not been improving at all. In fact it seems to have worsened...
I just hope he can find the courage, wisdom and determination to move on..

School has started and I haven't really put in as much effort as I would have likes. Must study tmr liao la~

And I couldn't make a trip down to GPF last weekend, I die die must walk Daryl this coming weekend before he slips back into his old demanding self again..

Aaand it's 3 in the morning. Gah, there goes my sleep-earlier plans. Sigh.

Till next time!

Good times ^.^

Went on a super last min shopping outing with the bball peeps just afew days ago and bought myself afew pairs of shirts, a chinos pants and a pair of shoes. Kaching~ 260 bucks disappeared from my bank account. Melacca trip this weekend, another 250 spent..

I NEED TO EITHER START SAVING UP LIKE CRAZY OR WORK LIKE CRAZY!

Gosh. And I don't even take much allowances from my folks nowadays.

Well I guess my list of goals will not happen anytime soon :/

Anyway, I'm really glad to have regular bball sessions with the peeps. Sometimes we play hard(superbly serious :0) , but most of the time we play just for entertainment sake... Makes Bballing a so much more fun(ny) sport when we don't play too competitively.. ^^

Sucks to sprain my thumb though, on top of the bruised thigh from last week... Must really be careful when playing nowadays, old liao la haha~

But it's all worth it, the shopping and the ball sessions, and i guess the joy that these activities bring is more important than anything else. (Almost..!)

------------------------------------------

Overseas trip this weekend with the office peeps, looking forward to it already! :D

And paiseh GPF, I'll be back in action real soon, 1st feb! =]

At a crossroad

Was lazing around at home after school and work and randomly blog/web surfing when the "what-the-hell-have-you-been-doing-in-your-life" moment hit me.

That got me thinking....

In life its typical for one to struggle to maintain the current lifestyle that one has.

So how can I push myself to achieve the goals that I had hoped for but lack the resources and motivation to do..?

As opposed to what I always tell my friends (especially the animal clique), the social pressure is getting to me. Didn't think I'd ever consider succumbing to this, but the subconscious mind has been bugging me to start on some stuff I should have completed years ago, such as getting a driving license and studying/working harder for better grades/ more income.

And I guess C is right, if I don't start actively searching for the other half, "then wait until 39 meh?"

My thoughts are in disarray.

Anyhow, recently my speaking voice has been on and off, sometimes waking up to a really tired voice. No idea why, but I just hope I can "recover" asap and start working for my moolah properly.

Ironically my singing voice is back...well almost...

Not sure if I should start making a checklist of "To do-s", because I might just end up ignoring/not following the list at all.

Actually, I'd just do it here:

To Do List:
1. Get the bloody computer fixed/get a new computer
2. Driving License
3. Lose weight to 70
4. 1 HD, 2 distinctions this semester
5. Wardrobe revamp
6. Continue volunteering till graduation
7. Actively search!

I just hope I stick to it... >.<

Bahh I've class tomorrow, better catch up on some sleep now...

Millan Fanboy!

Got my second book delivered to my doorstep this morning, and Lo behold, Cesar Milan's book is finally here! Excited me sped read through the entire book in 2 hours or so...

And I immediately thought of the commitment I made. Sigh, I think at this point of writing that I made a bad choice in taking up the job. The zen, calmness and satisfaction I get from volunteering at the shelter significantly outweighs the monetary benefits I get from working the entire weekend..

If not for my friends who wanted to work, no way would I take it up :/

Oh well, one shall not dwell in the misjudgements made in the past.. Lesson learnt and I'll make sure not to commit entire weekends on a whim in the future..

On the bright side, I'm just glad I can help friends make some bucks this time round, and that I value-added myself(even if its a little) in the company.. =]

It's almost 2 in the morning, and I have to be up at 6+ in the morning. Wish me luck in somehow finding enough rest meanwhile... >.<

Sweet dreams people! ^^

Ouch..!

Was just playing ball yesterday and I got knee-ed in the thigh area first game into the night. Didn't think much of it until after the games when the throbbing hit me. Quite a serious one, and now I'm half walking/hobbling to school ._."

Plus the bite wound from daffy/dara is starting to prick.. Gahh~

Oh the irony though, one injury on knee and the other on the thigh where I got KNEE-ED. =S

And I just realised yesterday that I unknowingly committed myself to other activities for 2 full weekends consecutively. That means I won't be visiting GPF 2 weekends in a row, first time this will be happening ever since I started volunteering there. Shall not be so careless next time, as it's a commitment I made to myself till at least I graduate.. I'll miss the furkids :/

I just hope that mr stubborn won't revert to his old ways while I'm not there to reinforce it.. :/

Bo bian ah, sometimes in the world of practicalism, money wins the war against lofty dreams and happiness..

Aiya for now, shall not think so much and focus on the lecture notes in front of me lol.. Study study study!

TGIF indeed!

Its been a great day so far, and its already 5pm! First up, this came in:

Only took 1 week to deliver after I ordered online in amazon.com! Always a fan boy of Cesar Millan, I agree with him that the words "dominance" and "control" are often associated with negative connotations. People need to see that Dominance can also mean guidance and direction, whereas control is just another word for say, a parent stopping a kid from eating too much sweets or something.

Anyway, im already immersing myself into the world of millan and i hope to glean some additional info that I didnt manage to catch or understand from his dog whisperer shows and his random youtube videos. Cool stuff!

Next up, I managed to motivate myself to work with friends during a weekend that I usually would spend at the dog shelter. Of course, this means giving up on my commitment to GPF for that weekend. No choice la, money is required nowadays and I need to prioritise...

Thirdly, I'm still keeping up with Commercial Law, much to my surprise! Super lot of readings to be done and understood, I'm glad I can keep up with the pace (even if its only for now!). Did afew hours of reading yesterday and today..yay~!

Lastly, I'm just glad of my own progress these few months. Looking back, its been really quite tough as I had to juggle quite afew important aspects of my life. I've made new friends in both school and GPF, maintained and cherished the current ones, did okay for first sem of school, (could be better, but wtheck) managed my finances decently, what else can I complain about? =]

Anyway, gotta rush to school now... till next time!

Thanks for the feedback, I'm grateful and humbled!

1 week of 2013 has passed. I've been pretty passive about things this year(I hope), and being more open with myself about my short-comings.

It's been great so far. Truth or truth(dare) sessions with most of my cliques of close friends has been quite rewarding, if not entertaining LOL!

I'd just like all of you to know that I've really heard your concerns regarding certain areas about myself that all of you have mentioned and I've taken your inputs seriously into consideration and I'm hoping I can change for the better based on them =]

To C: Your input's too "cheem" for me! I'm not sure if I got it right, but if I did, I'd make sure our future correspondences would be....carried out swiftly.. =P

To M: I actually have goals in life! I'm just kinda worried that I can't keep up with myself and hence I don't voice out the full extent of what I'm really hoping for. I don't wanna disappoint everyone and myself.. =/
Of course you can always ask me if you're interested haha..

To L: You should have been there =/

To M2: Even though I've always been putting you down (jokingly of course!!), its been my pleasure to have known you and thanks for the reminder about life in general. I see alot of me in you, and I'm glad to be able to learn from your strengths and help you out in your weaknesses.

To J: This would be my feedback to you. Please do read through everyone's inputs and try to see things from different angles/point of views, you might just understand why people react the way they did/do. And yes, we're still friends lol~

To B clique: Sorry I can't be as thorough as I did to the above people, but I'd like to let you peeps know that it's been really fun that night HAHA!

To P clique: Let's meetup soon please! It's been fun talking about old times haha =D

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Moving on, school's starting soon and I need to buck up to close the GPA gap..! Gonna study after this post so I won't feel so guilty wasting too much time hahaha~

My singing's been really rocky recently... on off on off. I'm not sure what to do, cause I apparently can't stick to resting much...sigh...how ahhh~~

I don't like ending posts on a negative note, so I'm glad to have stuck around GPF! The atmosphere and people feels right, and yesterday was the first time I went out to dinner with the regulars. They're really jovial people with lots of life experiences, and I'm really really glad to have been there!

I guess it can't really go wrong, when we're all there for a common cause and passion.  =]

PS: To the 2 people who are probably sniggering, DON'T THINK TOO MUCH! >.>''

2013!

It's yet another new year~

Usually I make new year resolutions but this year it's gonna be more of the journey rather than the destination(or objective).

My hopes of singing has recently been revived as somehow my condition has weirdly improved. Absolutely no idea why. I'll just go with the flow I guess!

This year I hope to start on 2 things I was supposed to do years ago, we'll see how it goes. No objectives are to be met, but I do need to make a conscious effort!

I'm glad to have fallen back on my "lost" passion recently when I was feeling down. Thanks Daryl and the rest of the fur kids (though they obviously can't read HAHA) , for showing me the results of sticking to commitments! I will continue to watch and learn!

And since I'm paying for my education, I will be sure to put in more effort in scoring for this sem's modules, to pull up my GPA~

I think I've been doing my part in organising and participating in friends meet up in 2012, but nevertheless I will continue to do so in this coming year =]

I'll make sure to spend more time with granny this year, and make up with "her" sooner or later, once I've cleared my own short term goal..

Gambatte-yo mina san!

All forms of relationships need effort from all parties

As title suggests, I've been thinking bout the recent incidences that I've seen happened.

An army friend of mine recently broke up with his other half and was really depressed for awhile. He's better nowadays though, and has since learnt and grown from it. Super proud of him and I know he's just gonna become a better person and BF. (good luck for the next one ya? :D)

This other incident is ironically similar but yet totally different. I hope this friend of mine has the courage and wisdom to face reality and do damage control, or it's just gonna escalate till a point whereby nobody can help (or even empathise). All the best my friend...

From incident 1/2, I totally felt the need to reconnect with all existing friends. Maybe it's guilt on my side that sometimes I don't put in effort in maintaining these bonds I have with these people who were there (some of them anyway) when I was down and stuff. Don't be too passive, and don't try TOO hard. Mm..

Anyway I digress. The main reason I decided to blog this time round was to remind myself to be honest and truthful to the people around me, and be more sincere in maintaining friendships.

This reminders came in the form of a recent event that got me quite disappointed. Person A(no names as usual) pulled a no-show without any notification. Neither was person A apologetic. My instincts has been kicking me in the guts that even Mum A pulled a fib in person A's stead. I hope my instincts are wrong but I somehow doubt that :/
I rather person A decline to go for the event rather than weaving fibs. No point right? We've known each other for a long time...
Person B came though, with totally no intention to follow through. Guts tell me person b is in the loop of person A's "predicament", and probably was told to keep mum as well. What happened to the basic values of making things work? :/
Furthermore person b had clearly stated the inconveniences of providing conveniences. A friend in need is a friend indeed<-- fail =(

Kinda makes me sad that my brain is telling me that A/B have become so mercenary-like. Sigh...

Regardless of what happened, I've already looked past the matter and would rather let sleeping dogs lie. "To err is human, to forgive divine." I'm sure I've made my share of mistakes and I guess all these are part and parcels of forgiving and forgetting.

On a happier note, I've been volunteering at a random dog shelter one of my friends had previously helped out at, and I'm finding it very enriching and satisfying. This weekend commitment further justifies my passion and love for dogs. Awesome stuff, I'm quite sure I'm gonna continue this stuff for another year at least... ^^

Now I just wish that I've the wisdom and determination to get to my objectives and subsequently defuse a bomb I should have done so awhile ago...

Till next time,

More than a month since

Since the decision. Things have kinda died down more or less, but my resolve stands still, at least until my objectives are met.

This decision will just further strengthen my own determination and independence, which I guess will help me in the long run..

On a lighter note, I started volunteering at a dog shelter called "gentle paws and friends", ever since my exams ended. It's something I look forward to every week and keeps me moving forward. As I'm on vocal break(supposedly >.>), I'm exploring other non conventional options to spend time. Here i am, finally back to my roots, which is caring for dogs (something I've always wanted to do as a kiddo)

Friends have been busy with their own schedules in life and maybe I should too, but I guess I'm leaving it to fate :P

Anywayy, I've got almost 2 months more to my next semester in school so I really need to remind myself to stay grounded and disciplined to work for my goals.

#slightly-more-motivated!
